We see in this text that God’s wrath is sure and severe, but sometimes we often miss some details about His judgments that this Sermon will reveal today.
The passage this week is very much a cautionary reminder that God’s judgment is real and sure! Yes, God is gracious. He never ceases to be HOLY and this holiness always has and always will include both His gracious loving-kindness, and His perfectly right justice. We will look at some of the false fortresses and the one true fortress in the message.
One of the consistent messages of Old Testament wisdom literature is that we are not as wise as God, that we do not have the capacity to be as wise as God, that we cannot know all the answers. This week we examine if this message is something that should bring us frustration or comfort.
Solomon goes back to money this week. He discusses how obsession for more leads us into places of injustice. He also talks about how once we begin to cultivate a desire for more it is difficult to experience satisfaction in life.
The greatest exchange offered in history is God’s offer to us to exchange our sin for Christ’s righteousness through the cross. It is a gift from God that we receive by trusting God’s grace. Embracing God’s grace helps us get off the performance treadmill and walk on the path of God’s grace.
