In this 4th week of Advent we will be looking at the different aspects of peace that our King brings.
Today’s message looks at Psalm 96 and the joy, fear and glory of the Lord. Can you have joy and fear together? God’s glory is the composite magnificence of his greatness and goodness. It’s easy to be tempted to look more to the lower glories of this world then the goodness and greatness of God. …
Only One God is awesome. It is not insignificant that the sermon title has a little “g” god in it. The people of Israel had come to believe other gods were awesome, rather than the One true God. The truth is, though, people today (even church folk) have a tendency to love people or things more than God. This misplaced love is consistently referred to in scripture as idolatry. But these false gods fail. Only Jesus, the One true God, is worthy of our deepest devotion. In the message I will be unpacking the ways idolatry fails, but also reminding folks that forgiveness is still offered to idolators.
We often try to find peace through our circumstances, but peace only comes as a gift from the Lord of peace and then we carry his peace into our circumstances. Whether it is relational peace or emotional peace that we need, they both flow from first having peace with God and then trusting him to be who he is and to do what he needs to do to experience his peace at all times and in all ways.

Through prayer we have community with God and we are called to submission and dependence on God
We can know with certainty that Jesus is Savior and King and knowing Him is how we begin to be shaped by His life and goodness
We believe the Gospel leads to life change. As we know Jesus more deeply, there is physical, emotional, and spiritual evidence. Are we hungry for the things of God or are we satisfied with the things around us? We must encourage one another toward life-change.
